If you are a “do-it-your-selfer” and would like to organize part of or your entire wedding, we hope you find the following information helpful.

You don’t need official permission to have your wedding on the beach unless .....

If you are not intending to corden off part of the beach, set up chairs or in any way restrict access to part of the beach, you do not need to obtain permission. If however you are going to to restrict access to part of the beach you will need a special events permit from the City of Tybee of Town Hall. The permit fee is small and is dependant on if alcohol is being served. To obtain a dowloadable version of the form required click here. The form can be mailed to the address provided.

Obtaining a marriage license

A visit, in person, is required to Chatham County Courthouse, located in in the heart of downtown Savannah. Click here to view map of location. The fee is $35 (at the time of writing 2/04). A blood test result and a positive ID (such as driving licence or passport) are required. The County Courthouse has more information, to view click here. Finding someone to perform the ceremony

We advise shopping around, and on popular dates, such as summer weekends, booking well ahead. We also advise you asking for references from couples they have married.
